The University
La Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC) is the most modern of all the public universities in Madrid. It has four campuses, in Madrid and nearby. It was created in 1996 with the objective of offering all around preparation for its students, combining theoretical teaching with training in laboratories and companies, thus facilitating rapid access to the labor market. The University system has about 39,500 students. Students in this program will take their courses at the Vicálvaro Campus located about 40 minutes from the city center of Madrid.
The Program
The Vicálvaro Campus is known as the English Campus for the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos system offering a number of degrees and courses in English. Students will take their courses alongside Spanish and other international students. Students may take courses in English, Spanish or a combination of both. Courses in English are offered in the following fields: Business Administration and Management, Marketing, Pre-Primary Education, Primary Education, International Relations, and Tourism. Students have the option of taking courses at the Language Center in Spanish. Other languages offered include: French, German, Chinese, and Arabic. Courses in Spanish are offered in the following fields: Administration and Management, Accounting and Finances, Economics, Marketing, Tourism, Criminology, Law, and Protocol, Organization of Events and Corporate Communications. All students participating in this program will have to take the Director's Course worth 3 U.S. credits - Madrid: A Global City, Spanish Art, History, and Culture.
*50% OF THE COURSES HAVE TO BE OF THE DEGREE YOU HAVE BEEN NOMINATED FOR (2 out of 3 classes)*
If you need to mix study areas, you must ALWAYS choose 50% of the courses of the Degree you have been nominated for, and then other courses of the same study area.
Example: If you have been nominated to study Business and Administration Management, you can select courses of the Marketing degree.

Housing and Meals
Students have the option of residing in program arranged housing in an on campus residence hall, with a single room, private bathroom, and small kitchenette. Students who choose this housing option will have a fully catered meal plan, which includes: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Upon acceptance to the program, students are required to complete a housing questionnaire indicating their housing preference. Students who choose not to reside in program arranged housing have the option of residing in independent housing, which is arranged directly by the student.
Visa Information
All participants in this program are required to apply for and obtain a long stay student visa at the Spanish Consulate General of Spain in New York City. A visa is a stamp that will be placed in your passport allowing you to study abroad for a period that is longer than 90 days. Details and instructions on obtaining the Spanish Student Visa will be provided upon acceptance to the program. Note: Non-US passport holders may require different procedures. Flights
Students make their own travel arrangements to Madrid's International Airport Barajas (MAD) and to their housing destination upon arrival. All students must arrive to Madrid on the official program arrival date.
Insurance
All students are covered by full health, evacuation and repatriation insurance.
Financial Aid
Students currently receiving financial aid can use their aid for overseas study, and may, in some cases, have their awards increased. Students not currently receiving financial aid may be eligible. Those interested in financial aid for this program should contact the financial aid office on their home campus.

Late applications are accepted on a space-available basis. Please contact the program specialist for further details.
A non-refundable deposit of $250, applicable to the program cost, must be paid within 14 days of acceptance to the program in order to secure program participation. Any deviation from program requirements must be requested in writing and authorized by the Director of International Education and Programs before the final payment date.
