The University
Kempten University of Applied Sciences is located in Kempten, Germany in the Bavarian Alps. Since its establishment in 1977, this University at the edge of the Alps has experienced steady and continuous growth.
The academic year in Germany is divided into "winter" (US fall semester) and "summer" (US spring semester) semesters. The "winter" semester starts in October and ends in February, and the "summer" semester runs from March to July. The remaining time, the vacations, are set aside for writing essays, preparing papers and exams, and for work placements. Please note that the fall semester at Kempten is typically from October through February which can impact the start date of the spring semester in the United States. Students going in the fall semester should be aware of the possibility of an overlap with the start of their home university's spring semester.
The Program
Participants can study business and other disciplines in English, as well as German language. The university trains students in the fields of engineering, business administration and tourism management, computer science and multimedia and social and health studies. Housing
There are a certain number of reserved rooms in the residence halls at Kempten University for exchange students. If you would like the coordinators in the International Office at Kempten to book a room for you in one of these residence halls, please indicate this in your "Application form for exchange students".
If you prefer to book your own accommodations, you can do so but you may need to finalize your housing upon arrival. Kempten University provides the following information:
Students can also work with a non-profit organization by name of “Verein zur Förderung der internationalen Beziehungen der Fachhochschule Kempten e.V.“ also known as ViBKe and translated as Association for the Promotion of International Relations at Kempten University of Applied Sciences, to find accommodations. The ViBKe association rents rooms in Kempten – many in the student halls, but also private apartments – and sublets them to the exchange students. The leases are for 6 months and cannot be shortened though your program may be shorter than 6 months.
Meals/meals plans are not provided, but there are numerous cafeterias and canteens on campus that offer low-cost meals for students.

Insurance
All students participating in this program are covered by the SUNY full health and accident insurance as well as medical evacuation and repatriation insurance.
National Health Insurance
In addition, students on this program must be enrolled in their host country's mandatory health insurance.
Financial Aid
Students currently receiving financial aid can use their aid for overseas study, and may, in some cases, have their awards increased. Students not currently receiving financial aid may be eligible. Those interested in financial aid for this program should contact the financial aid office on their home campus.
Applications
Late applications are accepted on a space-available basis. Please contact the program coordinator for further details.
A non-refundable deposit of $250, applicable to the program cost, must be paid within 14 days of acceptance to the program in order to secure program participation. Any deviation from program requirements must be requested in writing and authorized by the Director of International Education and Programs before the final payment date.
