Thomas Jacobson '77 Memorial Scholarship
Amount: TBA (One award per academic year)
This award was established by friends and family to honor the memory of Thomas (Jake) Jacobsen '77 (d.2000), who died while hiking in Grenada. Jake will always be remembered for his kindness and compassion towards others, love of travel, adventure, and Oswego. This scholarship will give an Oswego student who demonstrates humanitarian interests and achievements the opportunity to participate in the college's Study Abroad Program. To qualify for this award a student must:
- Be accepted into a SUNY Oswego overseas program AND have paid program deposit
- Be a junior or senior at the time of selection
- Be accepted into an Oswego overseas program AND paid the program deposit
- Document financial need
- Demonstrate humanitarian interests and achievements
A short, online application is required for all scholarships. You must also include documentation of financial need. If you have filed for and/or received financial aid from this campus, financial aid is easily documented by a copy of your award letter, including any need that has not yet been met but still exists. If you have not applied for, or have not been granted financial aid from SUNY Oswego, you will have to provide alternative information concerning your financial circumstances. Please keep in mind that it is your responsibility to provide the information documenting financial need.
You application must be completed (application completed and all supporting forms submitted) by the following scholarship deadline dates:
Please Note: One (1) scholarship is given out per year. If you are planning to study overseas for the Spring, you must apply for your scholarship by April 1st.
