The Country and Site
Edge Hill University is located in the town of Ormskirk in the Lancashire region of northwest England, about 30 minutes from Liverpool and 2 hours (by train) to London. England is the largest country of Great Britain, sharing the island with the countries of Scotland and Wales. Together, along with Northern Ireland, these countries form the United Kingdom. England is a country with a unique and far-reaching impact in the world, due largely to its former status as one of the most powerful empires in history.

Northwest England contains both lively urban and beautiful natural settings. The city of Manchester contributed to the region's industrial growth in the 19th century, and the port of Liverpool continues to be a major shipping center. Lancashire also contains the Lake District, reputed to hold "the finest scenery that ever was," seaside beaches, and numerous castles, ruins, and other sites of historical importance.

The Program
